The road is long…
Let’s walk together,
The road is tough…
Let’s stay together!
The one thing that differentiates humans from the other animal kingdom is that we thrive on relations. Humans can stay without food and water for a day, but cannot survive without a relation. It could be any relation: family, friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues or even strangers. Just as we need to breathe, we need to communicate, relate and manage our relationship with those around us.
Relationship management can be as simple as growing a plant. Just as the plant needs to be watered, nurtured, fertilized and protected at the same time, we need to take efforts in managing our relations. Managing relations is like maintaining a garden.  Depending on what you give: Time, love, commitment happiness:  the plant can grow in to a big tree, bear fruits, and survive storms. When we neglect, ignore, disregard and misunderstand we grow weeds that destroy the plants.
Wouldn’t it be good to have a life full of flowers and fruit bearing trees?  So, the next time you look at any relation in your life, pay attention to what you are providing it. At home, give your plants a lot of time, patience, love, care, concern, devotion, commitment and of dash of fun. In office, give your seed a lot of planning, strategy, motivation, clear communication, intelligence, integrity and adaptability. See your plant grow into a bush, then bloom into a fruit bearing tree. Don’t let your ego, indifference, arguments, unhealthy competition come in the way. These will help to grow only weeds and parasites that will eat up the team.
When it is time to plant some seasonal plants (customers) you need to take special care. Optimal conditions, correct language, proper execution, timely deliveries and trust are very important. If you are able to make such seasonal flowers bloom well, they often leave behind seeds which we can plant again and again!

When we give our optimal best to the work and to the team, we get their best in return. Just as the plant is forced to bloom or bear fruit after so much of nourishment, the team is bound to show their best.   Relations when well managed give us fruits which are long lasting and the best!  The right amount of professionalism, the right amount of emotional quotient will not just help to manage the projects, but will also help to build a fruitful team: the garden in heaven!
